Don’t Feel Overwhelmed by my List. To ensure your trip to Rome is well-structured and to help you avoid long walks, I’ve organized a detailed plan with an included map to help you easily navigate the city.

Tip for Getting to the City from the Airport:Download the app ´´Trenìt!`` that allows you to book train tickets up to 5 minutes before departure. Tickets are cheaper online than at the ticket shop and much more convenient.

Rome is a city full of history and culture. With this list and a good plan, you can experience the main attractions in just two days!

Day 1: Ancient Rome and City Center- Blue line on Map

Colloseum Rome

Colosseum:The Colosseum is a major tourist hotspot, with many vendors trying to sell tickets or bus tours, often involving scams. It's safer to book tours online in advance. The exterior of the Colosseum is impressive, but if you are interested in its history, you can book a tour, which takes about half a day. After that, head towards the Roman Forum.

Roman Forum:Here you can explore the impressive ruins of ancient Rome. Entry is free, and the site is fascinating.

Altare della Patria Rome

Altare della Patria:A short walk away is the magnificent and massive monument. Climbing the stairs offers a nice view of the city, but I wouldn’t recommend spending 16 euros on the elevator.

Little Break:If you’re hungry, I recommend the Tiramisu spot “Two Sizes.” To escape the crowds, visit the Galleria Doria Pamphilj museum, which is a hidden gem, and the elegant Caffè Doria with its charming courtyard.

Pantheon and Spanish Steps:After the museum, continue to other famous spots like the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps. There are plenty of shopping opportunities along the way, especially in Via del Babuino, known for its perfume shops, which make great souvenirs.

Café Tip: Caffè Canova Tadolini – a unique café with statues on display that’s fortunately still a secret to most tourists.

Lunch: Near the Spanish Steps, I recommend dining at Hosteria del Mercato, a popular spot among locals for lunch.

Rome-Piazza del Pincio

Piazza del Popolo and Park:From Piazza del Popolo, climb the stairs to Terrazza del Pincio, which offers stunning views over Rome, especially in the afternoon light. The adjacent park is vast; exploring it fully would take hours, but you can rent an electric bike to see it comfortably in about an hour.

Vatican Rome Blackwhite

Day 2: Trastevere and Vatican City

Trastevere: Start your day in Trastevere, which I consider the most beautiful neighborhood in Rome. Enjoy the atmosphere and take lots of photos!

Food spots Rome-Carbonara

Lunch:For lunch, I recommend Tonnarello, known for its delicious Carbonara.

Vatican Museums:After lunch, head to the Vatican Museums. Be sure to book your tickets in advance online to avoid the long queues. This visit will take up most of the day, but it’s worth it!

Rooftop Bar:After the Vatican, relax at a rooftop bar. I recommend Terrazza Les Etoiles Roma, or for a more budget-friendly option, try Terrazza 1919.

Evening Walk:After dinner, enjoy a stroll through the city and across the river. Rome is beautifully illuminated at night, and the crowds thin out. Make a final stop at the Trevi Fountain.
